It is our family's fun tradition to camp on the beach for several days each year. The kids look forward to it as we did as children. This year when asked by his grandpa if he would rather go to Disneyland or to the beach, my son's reply was "the beach with my family..with boogie boards!" When it was time to go, he kept saying, "Come on, I've been waiting 11 months for this!"
This year we stayed extra time to catch my brother who had been in Alaska and was getting there late. Our stay included a Sunday. It is also tradition that if we are there over Sunday that we hold a family meeting in lieu of going to church. The last couple of years it has been a nice meeting time. This year Grandpa used the time to share with the family a challenge to increase our efforts in family history. Aunt Anne took on the responsibility of teaching the children. She led a healthy group of young ones off on a walk through the campground. As they walked she taught them. A few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised when a gospel principle was appropriately put into action by my son. When I asked him about it his reply was simply, "I didn't forget the lesson!" When I asked for more information he informed me that it was in the lesson that Aunt Anne had taught on their walk at the beach.
"Recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction." --M.Russel Ballard April 2008. This blog is mainly for me, and someday my children, but if anyone else dear to us cares to be a part of our journey, welcome aboard!

Turned six!
I was happy on the first day I was 6. My grandpa made my cake. Valerie got the Sleeping Beauty topping. My grandma Bunica went to my birthday party and I had my cake at my grandma's house. My mom was there too. My dad, Gary, Annelise, Joshua, Seth, Brandon, Valerie and Grandma and Grandpa were there. Jonathan gave me and Gary a gift card for ice cream at Menchies, a place where we can put on all of the toppings that we want.
I had a friend party at my house. We had to tie one of our legs together and race. We had a balloon and we had to hold it with our heads with our partner. We had a treasure hunt to find cupcakes, they were hiding in the drawer where the pans are. We played a game with cards and we had to do something that started with the letter on the card. We had a pinata that was like a present.
